KAWASAKI—Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation (Toshiba ESS) is pleased to announce that Nishi-Nagoya Thermal Power Station No. 7-2, a high efficiency combined-cycle power plant, was successfully handed over to the customer and operator, Chubu Electric Power Company, today.
Nishi-Nagoya Thermal Power Station Unit No. 7-1 and 7-2, both multi-shaft combined-cycle power generation systems with three gas turbines and one steam turbine, have a combined generating capacity of 2,376.4MW. Their high-efficiency operating characteristics cut fuel consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide while boosting power output.
Toshiba Corporation won this major contract to deliver power-generation systems for Nishi-Nagoya Thermal Power Station from Chubu Electric Power in 2012. Toshiba ESS optimized the overall system design of the plant by combining General Electric’s HA gas turbines with its own high efficiency steam turbines and generators. With Unit No.7-1, Toshiba ESS succeeded in setting a new efficiency standard by achieving a demonstrated efficiency of 63.08%*.
