TOKYO— Toshiba Group clinched three awards at Japan’s Good Design Award 2024, the annual awards sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion to honor good design and product quality. The award-winning products are the TOSWACS-Nesta™*1, the MCR30 Multi-Relay, and the small skid type CO2 capture unit.

1. TOSWACS-Nesta™ An integrated platform for water & sewage facilities

A joint submission by Toshiba Corporation and Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation

TOSWACS-Nesta™ is a system that supports the long-term operation of water and sewage facilities. Each of its function, including control optimization and site diagnosis, have been made into applications, allowing easy combination and replacement to match the facility scale, issues, and budget. The system was highly evaluated for its ability to provide flexible systems that meet facility requirements and to its harness facility expertise through technology and UX design, realizing safe, secure, and sustainable water infrastructure.

2. Protective relay MCR30 Multi-Relay

A joint submission by Toshiba Corporation and Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation

MCR30 Multi-Relay protects substation equipment in factories and buildings and other facilities. It integrates measurement, protection, and control capabilities that monitor and manage changes in power, current, and voltage, ensuring stable power supply. Key factors in its selection were its simple design and clean interface, which make it much easier for service engineers to carry out maintenance and inspection work, and to respond quickly to system malfunctions. Most important of all, it makes a potent contribution to resilient facilities with a minimal impact on electrical systems.

3. Small skid type CO2 capture unit

A joint submission by Toshiba Corporation and Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions

This compact CO2 capture unit allows companies considering the deployment of large-scale equipment to easily conduct preliminary verification, and is contributing to the wider adoption of CO2 capture technology. The received a high evaluation for its container-sized modular design that can be transported by 4-ton truck, eliminating the need for separate transport and on-site assembly, and for a simple appearance that makes it easy to install in conspicuous locations.

Good Design Award winners will be exhibited at GOOD DESIGN EXHIBITION 2024 at Tokyo Midtown from November 1 to 5.
