Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation

Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation uses cotton and polyester-cotton blend workwear at construction sites and in factories. Previously, worn-out workwear (cotton and polyester-cotton blend workwear) was disposed of as industrial waste. However, following the workwear renewal in November 2024, the company launched a recycling program to collect and rehabilitate these items when they wear out.
At designated material recycling factories, collected workwear is recycled into river protection mats, sound-absorbing materials, cushioning materials, and floor mats for hotels. In FY2024, approximately 4 tons (8,700 pieces) of cotton and blended workwear were collected and recycled. Compared with incineration, this is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by roughly 11 tons.
This initiative not only minimizes waste but contributes to CO2 emissions reduction and more efficient resource use. In addition, by involving employees directly in the recycling process, it helps to raise environmental awareness throughout the company.
