Message from the Executive in Charge of Sustainability

Advancing sustainability
management for a sustainable future.

Tomomi Ushijima
Corporate Officer
Corporate Senior Vice President

Today, climate change, global environmental issues, and constraints on energy and resources are intensifying, increasingly threatening the future of humanity and the safety and security of our lives. They can only be overcome if government, society and individuals all make greater efforts than ever before. Companies also bear an even greater responsibility.

Toshiba Group, guided by its corporate philosophy “Committed to People, Committed to the Future,” has taken on social challenges since its founding and has worked to address them through its business activities. Leveraging the technological capabilities, knowledge, and partnerships that we have cultivated across our diverse businesses, we strive to realize a society where people and nature coexist in harmony, and that is safe and secure. To achieve carbon neutrality and a circular economy, we will leverage our comprehensive strengths—including cutting-edge environmental conservation technologies that promote renewable energy, advanced hardware technologies that help modernize aging infrastructure, and high-performance devices that enable energy savings—all integrated with AI and digital technologies. Through these efforts, we aim to deliver valuable products and services that only Toshiba can provide.

In working toward a sustainable society, it is essential that we co-create with all of our stakeholders. Toshiba Group’s customers include not only governments and companies, but also all the people who rely on infrastructure. Starting from society’s needs, we will continue building the future together through ongoing dialogue with our stakeholders.

Toshiba Group aims to be a company that realizes a sustainable society by building a foundation of trustworthy and transparent management, and will address material issues from a medium- to long-term perspective.
In May 2024, as a new step under our non-listed status, we announced the “Toshiba’s Revitalization Plan,” declaring that management and employees will unite to build a global ecosystem and tackle  social challenges. At the same time, in FY2025, we worked to give concrete form to a Toshiba Group Vision that looks to the future.
Based on this vision, to further accelerate our growth initiatives, we have re-identified our material issues to better contribute to the enhancement of corporate value and are strengthening our Group-wide initiatives.

Furthermore, in November 2025, we introduced a new Business Segment (BS) structure that redefines our business domains. BS Executives for each domain will formulate specific growth strategies, reallocate resources to growth markets, and implement measures, including the transformation of business models, to stay agile in a changing market environment. Working closely with our two Co-Chief Operating Officers (COOs), they will drive initiatives that contribute to addressing medium- to long-term social challenges.

Going forward, Toshiba Group will continue to contribute globally to solving the planet’s challenges, envisioning a future where we can make the world a better place and bring smiles to the faces of everyone living on Earth.

“Committed to People, Committed to the Future.”

  • “Committed to People, Committed to the Future.” is the Basic Commitment of Toshiba Group.
