Report of Toshiba Group's "Global Environmental Action 2014"

Toshiba Group has designated June 5, which is World Environment Day, as the day for Toshiba Group Global Environmental Action, with the aim of creating a sense of unity among employees while allowing each of them to increase their environmental awareness, by bringing together the Group’s global workforce and getting individuals and sites in different parts of the world to take part in environmental actions at the same time.
In FY 2014, which was the second year of the Group` s Global Environmental Action, ?April 1 was set as the start date of the campaign, followed by two months of implementation period for environmental actions in approximately 20 countries around the world. Also, on June 5, an event was held at Toshiba` s Smart Community Center and Lazona Kawasaki Plaza in Kawasaki City, Japan, to total the results of the activity. The event was participated by many Kawasaki citizens, press, ?and Toshiba employees.
Activities by production/business sites around the world
During the period of April 1 to the end of May, various environmental actions took place at Toshiba` s production and business sites in approximately 20 countries around the globe. Regarding newly planned activities, action themes were set in line with region-specific environmental issues (eg. Water, Resources, Energy etc.) which were ?derived from Toshiba` s new environmental concept `T-COMPASS.` There were numbers of activities which were in collaboration with public administrations, local citizens and NPOs.

Employees shared their `environmental manifesto` or `activity report` on a dedicated web site and deepened their understanding and awareness of the environment.
World Environment Day Event ~Toshiba Group Global Environmental Action 2014~
To sum up the environmental activities taken place within the two months period and also to contemplate on environment protection issues with the participants, we held a reporting event from June 5 to June 8, at Toshiba Smart Community Center and Lazona Kawasaki Plaza in Kawasaki City, Japan. Joint announcement of `environmental manifesto` by Mr. Atushi Miura, Deputy Mayor of Kawasaki City, and Hisao Tanaka, Director, President and CEO of Toshiba Corporation, was taken place, along with activity report by employees from all over the world, and by exhibits of introductory panels and videos. Also, a monument created with flowers and lawn were displayed outside where Toshiba employees` and citizens` environment wishes were shared through exhibit of individual` s message cards. Lastly, workshops for children were held where importance of environment were taught through creation of crafts, such as photo frames made of recycled cardboards, and electricity generated from shaking of magnets.
