KAWASAKI, JAPAN - Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation (Toshiba) today announced its participation in CIGRE 2024 Technical Exhibition^*1, the world’s premier event focused on power systems^*2. The exhibition will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France, from August 25 to August 30, 2024.

Founded in Paris in 1921, CIGRE is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing and sharing expertise in power systems. The organization hosts an international conference on large power systems every two years in Paris, and introduced the technical exhibition as a parallel event in 1994. In 2022, approximately 8,600 industry professionals from around the world participated in CIGRE^*3.

At this year’s exhibition, Toshiba will showcase innovative sustainability products and solutions for transmission and distribution systems at booth S195A. Key highlights include AEROXIA™^*4 gas-insulated switchgear^*5, which utilizes environmentally friendly natural-origin gases, along with other substation products from Toshiba’s global network. The booth will also showcase surge arresters and protection relays.

The transmission and distribution business is a key focus of Toshiba Group, integral to growth, and the company is actively advancing its international presence in the field.

Toshiba will also conduct technical seminars and expert-led discussions at the booth (schedule available here).

1. AEROXIA™ – Toshiba’s natural-origin gas insulated switchgear
   A breakthrough in gas insulated switchgear that replaces sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆), a greenhouse gas with much greater warming potential than CO₂, with natural-origin gas. This alternative enhances safety and eliminates environmental risk in the event of a leak. 
2. Protection and Control Systems
   Toshiba’s latest digital protection relays showcase advanced features and capabilities. Toshiba’s GR-200 Series Intelligent Electronic Devices are highly adaptable, compliant with IEC 61850 Process Bus capability, including GMU200 Merging Unit and Advanced Cyber Security functions, and support the transition to digital substations.
3. Products from Toshiba Power Distribution Systems (India)
   Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited is a Toshiba Group company with a manufacturing base in India. Featured products will include power transformers, distribution transformers, inverter transformers, gas-insulated switchgear, and polymer lightning arresters.
4. Products from Toshiba Power Distribution Systems Asia
   Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems Asia Sdn. Bhd. is a Toshiba Group company with a manufacturing base in Malaysia. The focus will be on its medium-voltage switchgear.
