A joint venture between TEPCO Renewable Power Inc. (hereinafter referred to as, "TEPCO RP") and Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation (hereinafter referred to as, "Toshiba ESS") has today signed an agreement with the Tochigi Prefecture Public Enterprise Bureau after having been selected as the primary contractor for the Bureau's Imaichi Power Generation Management Office Centralized Monitoring & Control System Implementation Project.

The project involves supplying an SaaS-based^*1 operation monitoring and control system for the Tochigi Prefecture Public Enterprise Bureau's 11 hydroelectric power stations. TEPCO RP will build the overall system, including servers, while Toshiba ESS will be responsible for installing the remote monitoring and control devices^*2 at the power stations and dams.

By incorporating know-how from decades of experience as a power plant operator into the system design, TEPCO RP has been able to reduce initial configuration costs, allowing it to provide a service that is more affordable than the usual method, in which the user owns the entire system. Furthermore, with risk countermeasures, such as system security monitoring and continuous backups, designed similarly to those of TEPCO RP's hydroelectric power stations, ensuring high system reliability.

In addition to providing an affordable and highly reliable operation monitoring and control system, TEPCO RP is leveraging its in-house expertise in digital transformation to contribute to the optimization and enhancement of hydroelectric power generation by publicly owned electric utility companies.

Toshiba ESS leverages its extensive software assets and expertise to advance the development of highly reliable remote monitoring and control devices, integrated with the operational monitoring and control systems provided by TEPCO RP, contributing to stable and advanced power distribution.
