AGP Corporation

Battery-operated GPU

AGP Corporation runs a variety of businesses that support airport infrastructure, leveraging its technical expertise. AGP Corporation is the first in Japan to develop a battery-operated ground power unit (GPU), which incorporates Toshiba’s SCiB™ in the battery unit.
A GPU is a vehicle capable of supplying electricity to aircraft parked on the ground. Most mobile GPUs are powered by a diesel engine. As part of its recent efforts to achieve carbon neutrality, AGP Corporation has developed a battery-operated GPU to reduce environmental load, contributing to the achievement of the government-led project “Reduction in CO2 Emissions at Airports.”

SCiB™ has been adopted for portable hybrid  generator

ANA, Inc. has manufactured and sold portable generators for off-grid with SCiB™ mainly in the North American area.
The hybrid generators with SCiB™ and diesel engine are expected to provide significant fuel efficiency improvements compared to conventional systems. The Long-life characteristics also reduce maintenance costs by reducing the frequency of battery replacements. This new system achieves both environmental impact reduction and user benefits.

Solar PV-coupled storage battery system installed on the rooftop of the headquarters building of Daikyo

Daikyo and TELC jointly developed a new storage battery system for use in newly constructed condominiums. This system stores electricity generated by solar PV as well as cheap late-night electricity. The stored electricity is used as a power source for the common area of a condominium or as an emergency power supply in the event of a power outage. The battery system also allows real-time power-state monitoring. (Courtesy: Daikyo Inc.)

Saikawa Co., Ltd.

Saikawa selected SCiB™ for use in its EDS-11 electric delivery system because of its long-life and safety performance proven in many automotive battery applications.

The EDS-11 can be used to rescue electric vehicles that have run out of battery power on the road, deliver electricity, serve as an emergency power source in the event of a disaster, and work as an optional 100-V or 200-V power supply for use at home.
The EDS-11 is subsidized by the Next-Generation Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Project.

Toshiba Elevator and Building Systems Corporation

SCiB™ provides uninterrupted elevator operation in the event of a power outage, in a paid option for the Toshiba SPACEL-GRⅡ machine room-less elevator

The optional feature allows uninterrupted elevator operation in the event of a power outage caused by a disaster. The elevator can continue a low-speed operation on battery for up to two hours. Additionally, the elevator does not stop abruptly but instead comes to a slow halt on the nearest floor, and then smoothly switches to battery operation. At ordinary times, the feature provides a hybrid operation with batteries while saving energy by charging the batteries with regenerative power produced during the elevator operation.

Jelec Inc.

SCiB™ has been adopted for oil & gas drilling platforms

Jelec Inc. has adopted SCiB™ for oil, natural gas and geothermal drilling systems. SCiB™ is used as a buffer to absorb high repetitive power fluctuations, which significantly improves the diesel engine fuel efficiency and the life of the system. In addition, SCiB™ has been selected because of its high safety and extremely low possibility of ignition. SCiB™ technology makes the field safe and reliable.
