Product lineup
SCiB™ rechargeable cells can be categorized into two types: high power and high energy.
The high power cell is suitable for applications requiring the charging and discharging of large current in a short time
such as regenerative braking in automotive applications.
The high energy cell is suitable for applications requiring large capacity such as electric vehicles and stationary storage systems.
High power type
High power 2.9Ah cell
The compact high power 2.9Ah cell is well suited for applications that require short-time high power charge/discharge, and for applications that require small battery size and light weight.
High power 10Ah cell
10Ah cell is well suited for applications that require short-time high power charge/discharge such as regenerative electric power in start-stop and railway systems, and industrial equipment.
Long life (cycle characteristics)
The 2.9Ah SCiB™ cell maintains over 80% of its initial capacity after 40,000 charge/discharge cycles at a tough charge/discharge rate (10C) and high temperature (35°C) conditions.
Rapid charging
The 2.9Ah SCiB™ cell can be charged from 0 to over 80% SOC* in one minute.
* State of Charge
High-rate discharge
The 2.9Ah SCiB™ cell provides stable discharge capacity even in large discharge current.
Low-temperature operation
The 10Ah SCiB™ cell can be charged and discharged at temperatures below the freezing point.
There is little degradation even if charge and discharge operation is repeated under low temperature condition, making it suitable for use in a wide range of temperature.

High energy type
High energy 20Ah cell
The high energy 20Ah SCiB™ cell is well suited for applications that require high capacity and high power.
High energy 23Ah cell
Toshiba has launched mass production of the 23Ah SCiB™ cell, which maintains the advantages of the 20Ah cell such as rapid charging, low-temperature operation, long life and a high level of safety. The 23Ah cell is preferable for applications that require higher capacity and high power.
Long life (cycle characteristics)
The 20Ah SCiB™ cell maintains over 70% of its capacity after 20,000 charge/discharge cycles at a tough charge/discharge rate(3C) condition.
Rapid charging
The 20Ah SCiB™ cell can be charged from 0 to over 80% SOC* in six minutes.
* State of Charge
Long life (float charging)
SCiB™ exhibits low deterioration even at float charging where conventional lithium-ion batteries get damaged. Therefore, SCiB™ can be used in applications such as back-up power source that requires constant voltage charging.
* Float charging means continuous constant voltage charging.
Low-temperature operation
SCiB™ cell can provide adequate discharge capacity at temperatures as low as -30°C. The 20Ah SCiB™ cell can also be charged at low temperatures, making it suitable for applications that require a wide temperature range.
