Reducing the capacity of batteries to realize electric buses with spacious passenger cabin
Electric buses that drive on lithium-ion batteries are coming into wide use in order to reduce CO2 emissions. However, several issues remain to be resolved, such as reduction in passenger space and increase in costs caused by the battery capacity to cover a whole day operation. SCiB™ helps resolve these issues and makes it possible to create new electric buses.
Reduction of initial and operating costs
Increase of passenger space
Waste reduction
Reduction of CO2 emissions
Securing passenger space while reducing costs
Electric buses using SCiB™ can be charged in a short period of time, for example, while they are at a bus stop. SCiB™-based electric buses can be designed with much smaller battery capacity than the ones that are charged overnight. Therefore, SCiB™ makes it possible to provide wider passenger space and reduce the vehicle weight and cost. SCiB™ also saves the need for charging multiple buses at once overnight, which leads to reducing the number of battery chargers required.
