Toshiba Recognized as a “Supplier Engagement Leader” by CDP for Third Consecutive Year
July 10, 2025
TOKYO—Toshiba Corporation has been named a “Supplier Engagement Leader” by CDP*1, a global environmental non-profit organization, in its 2024 Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA). This is the third consecutive year that Toshiba has received the highest rating in the assessment.
In February this year, Toshiba was also selected for CDP’s highest “A List” ranking in both Climate Change and Water Security categories*2. Following this, the company has now also received the highest rating for Supplier Engagement.
The SEA evaluates how effectively companies engage with their suppliers on climate change issues, aiming to strengthen collaboration between them and to accelerate action on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the supply chain. The assessment considers five key areas related to climate change: Risk Management Processes; Governance and Business Strategy; Supplier Engagement; Scope 3 Emissions; and Targets.
Under its long-standing corporate philosophy, “Committed to People, Committed to the Future.,” Toshiba Group positions environmental initiatives as one of its top management priorities. The company recognizes climate change as an urgent global issue, and has declared to contribute to the achievement of carbon neutrality, with the targets to reduce GHG emissions by 70% throughout its entire value chain by FY2030 (against FY2019), and to achieve carbon neutrality by FY2050.*3
In working toward these goals, Toshiba Group is not only working to reduce emissions from its own operations (Scope 1 and Scope 2) but is also focused on reducing indirect emissions generated outside its direct activities (Scope 3), particularly in Category 1 (emissions from purchased goods and services) and Category 11 (emissions from the use of products and services sold). The company promotes reduction of Category 1 emissions through initiatives such as assessment of suppliers based on Toshiba Group Green Procurement Guidelines*4 and engagement in dialogues with selected suppliers on GHG reduction initiatives. These collaborative efforts were highly evaluated in the 2024 SEA.
Toshiba Group remains committed to advancing environmental initiatives throughout its entire value chain and contributing to the realization of a carbon-neutral, sustainable society.
