Notice of Suspension of Construction Business Based on Construction Business Act

Toshiba Corporation hereby gives notice that it has been served with an order by the Kanto Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport that obliges it to suspend its construction business from tomorrow for the period indicated below under the Construction Business Act, for an obstructive activity in connection with a bidding for the electric equipment construction for Narita International Airport Corporation (formerly New Tokyo International Airport Authority).

Toshiba considers this a matter of utmost concern. The company will make every effort to uproot illegal activities in connection with bidding and, in order to regain trust, will promote the measures, such as establishing sales compliance departments and employing compliance tools including standards of conducts in the business related to the government and public offices.


  1. Suspended business area
    Sales of electric equipment work, related to public construction and private construction supported by subsidy of government and other public offices, to be conducted in the prefectures including Ibaragi, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Yamanashi, and Nagano.
  2. Period
    Thirty days, from March 30, 2006 to April 28, 2006
