Biodegradable Liposomes
Our research in gene delivery technology centers on using proprietary nanoscale capsules, known as biodegradable liposomes. By applying Bayesian optimization and other AI-based techniques to their composition design, we are realizing liposomes that selectively target specific cells, and aim to contribute to the broader adoption of gene therapy.

Neuromorphic Computer
As the widespread adoption of AI leads to increasing computational processing and associated power consumption, Toshiba is conducting research on neuromorphic computer that performs advanced information processing with ultra-low power consumption. By mimicking certain brain functions using analog circuit systems, the company aims to achieve AI processing with less than one-thousandth the power consumption of conventional systems.
Quantum Computer
The key to realizing quantum computers is performance enhancement. We are advancing this goal with the Double-Transmon Coupler, a proprietary variable coupler that adjusts the coupling strength between qubits, increasing speed and accuracy in superconducting quantum computers. In collaboration with RIKEN, we have achieved gate fidelity at one of the highest levels yet recorded, and we look forward to further improvements in performance and scalability that realize practical equipment.
