Toshiba Recognized as a “Supplier Engagement Leader” by CDP for the Fourth Consecutive Year
May 26, 2026
Kawasaki, Japan – Toshiba Corporation’s proactive commitment to mitigating the impacts of climate change has once again earned recognition from CDP, the global environmental non-profit organization, as a “Supplier Engagement Leader” in its 2025 “Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA).” Toshiba Group promotes awareness of the need to counter the growing impact of climate change throughout its value chain, a stance that has led it to receive CDP’s highest engagement rating for four years in a row.
This latest recognition follows the inclusion of Toshiba Group in CDP’s January 2026 ranking of companies and their response to climate change, in which Toshiba made the “A List.”
CDP’s SEA assesses how effectively companies address climate change across their supply chains. It evaluates five key areas related to climate change: Risk Management Processes; Governance and Business Strategy; Supplier Engagement; Scope 3 Emissions; and Targets.
Toshiba Group positions “response to climate change” as one of its material issues and proactively promotes efforts to achieve carbon neutrality. The Group aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout its entire value chain by 70% by FY2030 (against FY2019), and to achieve carbon neutrality by FY2050.
To reduce emissions in its upstream value chain, Toshiba Group strengthens engagement with suppliers through assessments and ongoing dialogues on climate change measures. In addition, in calculating Scope 3 Category 1 emissions (emissions from purchased goods and services), the Group partially incorporates supplier-specific emissions data to better reflect actual conditions. These collaborative initiatives with suppliers were highly evaluated in the CDP assessment.
Guided by its corporate philosophy, “Committed to People, Committed to the Future.,” Toshiba Group is committed to advancing environmental initiatives throughout its entire value chain and contributing to the realization of a carbon-neutral, sustainable society.
- CDP is an international non-profit organization established in the UK in 2000. It operates a worldwide environmental disclosure system that companies and cities use to manage their environmental impacts. CDP’s disclosure system is considered a global standard for environmental reporting.
