Toshiba IoT Reference Architecture realizes Cyber Physical Systems (CPS)

There are three data sources for CPS.

One is the Internet of Things (IoT), which is data collected from sensors embedded in machines and equipment.

The second is the Internet of People (IoP), which is data related to people. This includes, for example, data emanating from people using IoT devices, as well as knowledge such as skills and experience that people possess.

The last one is the Internet of Service (IoS). Services are data that are accumulated in a database through traditional services, such as customer orders and support.

CPS circulates data from these three data sources to find the optimal solution for the optimized manufacturing, while providing feedback to the cyber side for incremental improvement.

Toshiba has developed Toshiba IoT Reference Architecture as an open and common framework for developing and operating IoT services as CPS.

It is based on international standards proposed by international institutes including the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and Acatech, and includes the various requirements for industrial IoT.

We have created this reference architecture with the intention of developing, reusing, and haring various software and services by combining the technologies of Toshiba Group and its partners.

By promoting initiatives in line with this on a global scale, we will accelerate open collaboration that transcends the barriers of various stakeholders and contribute to their business expansion.
