Recognizing the conditions inside waste pits in waste treatment facilities
Recognizes type of waste, waste stirring condition, and height of waste, using images of the waste pit captured by a monocular camera.
- We have developed a waste segmentation technique that, based on an image of the waste pit captured with a monocular camera and divides the image into regions according to the type of waste and stirring condition of the waste, such as regions showing stirred waste and sludge.
- We have developed a height estimator that estimates waste height from the segmentation results and the computer-aided design (CAD) data of the waste pit.
- The segmentation technique and height estimator have been incorporated into a fully automated AI-based waste crane system.
