Kawasaki, Japan – Toshiba Corporation today signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Qazpost JSC, Kazakhstan’s national postal operator, on collaboration to enhance the efficiency of warehouse operations through the use of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR).

The LOI was signed at Toshiba’s headquarters in Kawasaki by Azamat Keskinbayev, CFO of Qazpost, and Iwao Tsuji, Corporate Vice President of Toshiba.

Kazakhstan, the world’s largest landlocked country and a key logistics hub linking Asia and Europe, is experiencing rapid growth in e-commerce, a surge that has made efficient warehouse operations essential for logistics providers. In response to this trend, Qazpost aims to expand its delivery outsourcing services for e-commerce businesses.

In April 2025, Toshiba and Qazpost jointly conducted a demonstration at the Astana Fulfillment Center, Qazpost’s largest logistics facility, of a Goods-to-Person (G2P) system that uses AMRs to transport entire shelves of products. The system automatically delivers required items to pickers, eliminating the need for them to walk through large warehouses searching for products, resulting in greater efficiency and fewer errors.

Building on the demonstration’s success, the LOI supports full-scale introduction of the G2P system. Qazpost will collect customer information and work with Toshiba to co-create operational models and propose warehouse efficiency solutions using Toshiba’s AMR technology. The initiative includes plans to relocate Toshiba’s AMR demonstration kit from the Astana Fulfillment Center to customer facilities for trial use. Toshiba aims to secure new orders for the system in the first half of fiscal year 2026.

Toshiba is dedicated to advancing innovation and operational excellence in the postal and logistics sectors across Central Asia. In addition to its initiatives in Kazakhstan, Toshiba conducted a demonstration of enhanced postal sorting efficiency in Azerbaijan in March 2025. Leveraging its deep industry expertise, Toshiba will continue to support postal and logistics efficiency in the region by providing comprehensive solutions that encompass both system sales and operational know-how.
