Implementation of the Headquarters Reorganization to Realize the “Toshiba’s Revitalization Plan”
November 29, 2024
TOKYO---Toshiba Corporation today announced that it will reorganize and strengthen the 23 staff divisions at its headquarters into 13, effective on January 1, 2025.
Establishing optimal engagement between business units and headquarters in order to rebuild the management infrastructure to enhance strategy execution is one of the management strategies in the “Toshiba’s Revitalization Plan,” the company’s medium-term business plan announced in May 2024.
Acting on this, the reorganization of headquarters aims to maximize the profits of its business units by ensuring that they are able to formulate strategies flexibly, and by realizing a streamlined headquarters.
The company will transfer functions required for business operations to business units, which will clarify cost control within the units and allow them to make decisions aimed at raising efficiency and maximizing profitability. The headquarters will focus on and strengthen only those functions necessary for the corporation and that drive growth and improvement across the company.
The “Toshiba’s Revitalization Plan” also contained measures for personnel optimization in Japan. This included an early retirement incentive program, primarily for staff and indirect workers, under which about 3,500 employees either retired or were reassigned to growth businesses within the group, etc. by the end of November 2024.
Based on the “Toshiba’s Revitalization Plan,” Toshiba will continue to strive to execute management strategies for growth, while rebuilding its management infrastructure.
