TOKYO—Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) and its Group companies will be taking part in CEATEC 2023, scheduled from October 17 to 20 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba City, Japan.

Inspired by our corporate philosophy, "Committed to People, Committed to the Future," Toshiba Group actively contributes to the realization of carbon neutrality and a circular economy. The Group aims to achieve this by building infrastructure that everyone can enjoy, and a society connected by data.

At CEATEC 2023, Toshiba Group will showcase solutions focused on realizing safe and secure infrastructure, and achieving carbon neutrality. It is an approach that involves harnessing the cutting-edge technologies and hardware in the Group's portfolio, coupled with the extensive data generated by these resources.

On October 19, at the CEATEC CONFERENCE, Dr. Yutaka Sata, Toshiba's Executive Officer, Corporate Senior Vice President and CTO, will participate in a session entitled, "Japan-UK Collaboration: Paving the Way for Quantum Enabled Future." Alongside prominent experts in the field of quantum technology from Japan and the UK, Dr. Sata will discuss the present state of quantum computing technology and explore the challenges to be overcome in establishing practical applications for this groundbreaking technology.

1. Main Exhibits

(1) Building Safe and Secure Infrastructure

Solutions that contribute to the daily lives of people, disaster responsiveness, and the construction of safe and secure infrastructure in cyberspace.

Secure Space Management Solution
Solutions that detect concealed weapons without disrupting people flows, protecting communities from invisible threats from terrorists, and that optimize security operations.
Key items include:

  • Walk-through detector utilizing millimeter-wave radar to detect concealed weapons
  • Security management solutions enabling the establishment and operation of advanced security environments

Weather Forecast Solution

Weather-radar and data-analysis-technology solutions that accurately predict abrupt weather changes, such as sudden heavy rain and hail, and lightning, and wind gusts, reducing the risk of weather-related disasters.

Key items include:

  • Real-time weather radar data analysis for rapidly detecting and warning of weather disasters
  • Multi-Parameter Phased Array Weather Radar (MP-PAWR)

Cyber Security Solutions for Social Infrastructure

Solutions that continuously strengthen security against cyberattacks on infrastructure essential to people's lives.

Key items include:

  • Cyber security solutions for XIoT that achieve cyber resilience in real-world industrial environments
  • Cyber security training services using a control-system simulator

Quantum Key Distribution Platform

Solutions that use quantum key distribution (QKD) technology, which is theoretically impossible to eavesdrop, and that will realize a secure digital future.

Key items include:

  • Initiatives to support the deployment of quantum cryptographic communications by promoting international standardization and conducting demonstration projects

(2) Achieving Carbon Neutrality

Solutions that support the achievement of carbon neutrality by aiming for zero or low CO2 emissions, CO2 capture and utilization, and the visualization of CO2 emissions.

Next Generation PV Cell Solution

Photovoltaic (PV) solutions that promote the take-up of renewable energy by extending installation to previously challenging locations and further boosting power generation efficiency. Toshiba’s innovations leverage two next-generation solar cell technologies: Cu2O (cuprous oxide) Tandem-Type Solar Cells; and Perovskite Film-Type Solar Cells.

Key items include:

  • Cu2O tandem-type solar cells

Carbon Neutral Solution Using AI
