Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO:6502) today announced publication of the English edition of the Toshiba Group Environmental Report 2009, which covers the full spectrum of environmental activities in FY2008 and initiatives in FY2009 by Toshiba Corporation and Toshiba Group companies worldwide. The full text of the report can be downloaded from the Toshiba Environmental Management web site at http://www.toshiba.co.jp/env/en/report/, and a printed edition is also available. The Environmental Management site will be updated toward the beginning of December to provide on-line access to the report, and will also feature the latest related information.

Environmental Report 2009 provides Toshiba's stakeholders and other interested parties with an authoritative resource on Toshiba Group's environmental policies, plans, programs and activities.

One highlight of this year's report is a feature on energy and environmental technology that, at eight pages, is twice as long as that in last year's report. Alongside newly added descriptions of solar photovoltaic systems and smart grid solutions, the feature looks at the integration of business management and environmental management, promotion of nuclear power, CCS (carbon capture and storage), the SCiB^TM (an innovative rechargeable battery) and Toshiba's new LED lighting.

The report consists of the following key sections:

1. Highlights

Environmental Vision 2050, the long term vision guiding Toshiba Group as it raises environmental efficiency

2. Energy

Energy generation and distribution technology for a secure energy supply and mitigation of global warming

3. Eco products

Toshiba's efforts to introduce industry-leading ECPs (environmentally conscious products) with reduced environmental impacts

4. Eco process

Toshiba's activities in business and production in respect of global warming, chemicals, efficient use of materials, environmental risk and recycling of used products

5. Eco Program

An overview of Toshiba's activities, including the Environmental Report and advertising, communications on the global environment, biodiversity conservation and external assessments

6. Environmental management

Toshiba's basic policies on and activities to support environmental management
