DynaBook TECRA 500:
- High processing speeds are realized by a Pentium
120MHz processor, 16MB of EDO memory in the main memory and a 256KB pipelined burst SRAM secondary cache memory.
- Toshiba's peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus chip-set for notebook PCs provides TECRA 500 with a 32-bit wide data bus between the CPU and peripherals, supporting the same high-speed data transfer that is becoming a standard in desktop PCs. The data switching speed allows TECRA 500 to utilize the capabilities of its high-speed Pentium® processor to the full. The PCI bus chip-set also supports hotdocking to a Desk Station V Plus.
- Two CardBus-ready PC-Card slots comply with the latest 32-bit architecture under the PC Card Standard Specification, and can transfer large-volume moving images at high speed via PCI bus.
- The Zoomed Video (ZV) port provides direct input of video and audio data without burdening the CPU. PC cards provide a direct link to on-board video and sound chips and allow users to enjoy full-screen video at 30 frames a second: like a standard TV image on the PC screen.
- The 12.1-inch TFT LCD offers 800 x 600 dot SVGA resolution and can display 16.77 million colors, equaling the performance of desk-top PCs. This high level performance result of the CT65550 64-bit high-speed graphic accelerator chip.
- The optional Desk Station V Plus interfaces directly with the computer's PCI bus, allowing use of super-fast PCI cards. The TECRA 500 can be hot-docked -- connected to the desk station while switched on -- to interface with Desk Station V Plus' amplifier and speakers, interchangeable CD-ROM/floppy disk drive dock, built-in SCSI-II port and wide range of peripheral connections.
- Options include a 1.3-gigabyte secondary hard disk drive and 6-time rotational speed CD-ROM drive, swappable with the standard floppy disk drive. When other equipment is installed, the floppy disk drive can be connected as an external drive.
