Toshiba Electronic Virtual Gallery: 200 works by van Gogh, 100 available for high-definition image retrieval.
MPEG-2 image compression is used for this system and both image and voice are compressed.
High-Definition Still-image Retrieval System: In addition to the Toshiba Electronic Virtual Gallery, SMAIS Toshiba also supports another electronic art retrieval system that shows high-definition still images. The graphics menu allows users to choose from 100 van Gogh still images, as well as 100 images from the Prado Museum in Spain and 60 from Kyoto Museum. Each is introduced by a Japanese voice-over. JPEG image compression is used for this system, and voice data is not compressed.
