Notice on Business Alliance to Develop Professional-use Video Production and Editing System for the Broadcasting Industry
Toshiba Corporation has reached an agreement with Ikegami Tsushinki Co., Ltd. under the terms of which the two companies will form a business alliance in the field of professional-use video production and editing systems for the broadcasting industry. The details are as follows.
- Reasons for business alliance
Today, typical video production and editing systems are either video-tape-based linear systems, or non-linear systems that record images to a hard disc drive or other non-tape media and that are able to interface with network servers. As the number of TV channels continues to increase, and as broadcasting systems complete the transition to digital infrastructure, video production professionals increasingly require multi-featured, fully integrated tapeless solutions that seamlessly connect all parts of the video production workflow, from news acquisition in the field through to editing, sharing and archiving. Such systems must also support enhanced levels of productivity and win savings in time and costs.
In working to meet these market requirements, Toshiba Corporation and Ikegami Tsushinki Co., Ltd. will bring their respective technological expertise to the development and global marketing of an advanced system that seamlessly links all aspects of video production workflow: image acquisition by the camera in the field; editing in the studio; play-out of the completed video; and, finally, archiving. The system will utilize a flash-memory-based storage medium and will be linked in a network. - Outline of business alliance
Toshiba Corporation and Ikegami Tsushinki Co., Ltd. will collaborate in developing the components of an advanced tapeless video production and editing system that will include a professional-use camera and video recorder, and that will utilize flash memory as its main storage medium. The new system will support all aspects of video production, from news acquisition through to archiving. The two companies will jointly promote the system and its concept and conduct worldwide sales and marketing activities. - Reference
