The Toshiba Group is promoting biodiversity conservation activities with the aim of contributing to the achievement of the Aichi Targets, which are global goals. Sites and affiliated companies of Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation are also address various biodiversity conservation.
Keihin Product Operations
The Japanese eight-barbel loach conservation
We are addressing Japanese eight-barbel loach conservation, which is on the red list, in our site. As a result of investigation of biotope in our site, it was ensured that they have grown proliferously without any concerns. Other aquatic organisms, such as Japanese rice-fish, dragonfly larva and pond-snail, were confirmed.
Hamakawasaki Operations
Planting rare plants like a birthwort and attracting red clawed crab to the site
We are addressing to expand habitats of rare plants like birthworts and attracting red clawed crab with taking advantage of the factory location adjacent to the sea. The biotope is used as a place for act of shedding its skin or shell and we try to create a suitable environment that the baby crab can live. We have observed Chinese windmills, whose feeding herb is birthwort, and confirmed the growth process from egg laying to emergence.

Ginkgo and squirrel protection
Ginkgo planted on the premises is designated as a national top-class protected plant, so we are keeping all employees informed and addressing to protect by recording their growth regularly. Wild squirrels also live in the premises, and we have set up birdhouses and observed them.

Protection and observation of flora and fauna inhabiting the premises, and tree planting in the office
We have contributed biodiversity by protecting and observing the flora and fauna that inhabiting the premises, and promoting tree-planting in the site.
