一年を通して、希少植物（ウマノスズクサ）生息域の拡大と海辺の工場立地を活かしたアカテガニの呼び込み活動に取り組んでいます。希少植物であるウマノスズクサは、ジャコウアゲハの幼虫が食草としており、ビオトープ周辺では毎年夏頃にジャコウアゲハの成虫が舞う姿を観察することができます。ビオトープは、アカテガニの脱皮場所として活用されており、今後は子ガニが住みやすい環境整備を進めていきます。

Through the year, we endeavor to expand habitats of rare plants like birthworts and are attracting red-clawed crabs taking advantage of the factory location adjacent to the sea. Birthwort is a rare plant which is a host plant for the larvae of swallowtail butterflies, and the butterflies can be observed flying around the biotope every summer. The biotope is used as a place for skin or shell shedding for the crabs and we will further try to create a suitable environment in which baby crabs are comfortable to live.
